Pyarimohan Mohapatra claims that he was the real architect of many government schemes

Continuing his tirade against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik after his expulsion from the ruling Biju Janata Dal, Rajya Sabha Member and Odisha Janmorcha leader Pyarimohan Mohapatra on Monday said that Mr. Patnaik had little idea about the welfare programmes being implemented by the State government.

Addressing a rally organised under the banner of the Janmorcha in western Odisha town of Bhawanipatna, Mr. Mohapatra claimed that he was the real architect of many of the popular government schemes, including the provision of the Rs. 2-a-kg rice for the below poverty line families.

The Kranti Samavesh rally of the Janmorcha at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district was the second in the series and first after Mr. Mohapatra’s expulsion from the BJD last week.

Mr. Mohapatra was expelled for anti-party activities.

He had been suspended earlier for attempting a coup against Mr. Patnaik in May.

Mr. Mohapatra termed Mr. Patnaik as a “selfish” leader who never tried to ameliorate the sufferings of the poor and downtrodden.

Mr. Patnaik was also not aware of the dreams his father legendary Biju Patnaik had for Odisha, he added.

The Chief Minister, who was brought to State politics by a few leaders, belonged to Punjabi culture and little love for the people of the State, Mr. Mohapatra alleged.

The rebel leader blamed Mr. Patnaik for becoming envious of him instead of being obliged to him for giving various suggestions for taking up pro-people measures in the State.

Mr. Mohapatra assured the gathering that the Janmorcha would strive to work for the benefit of the people from the Kalahandi-Bolangir-Koraput region in the days to come.

The Janmorcha rally became a success despite several ruling party leaders and Ministers addressing several party meetings and rallies in the KBK region during the past few days to prevent their party workers from attending the same.
