BHUBANESWAR: The State Health Department here on Thursday said all 150 seats for MBBS degree programmes would be available for aspirants to take admission at VSS Medical College at Burla following Centre’s decision to not implement recommendation of Medical Council of India.

MCI had recommended Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry for reduction of 43 seats showing reasons of unavailability of adequate infrastructure at VSS Medical College.

A delegation of MCI had visited the college on July 1 and 2 last.

In a statement the State Health Department said when recommendation was much made public, steps were taken on war-footing to put necessary infrastructure in place.

Subsequently, Union Health Ministry was requested not to deduct 43 seats from the existing 150 seats.


A communication regarding no change in number of MBBS seats available with VSS Medical College was received on Thursday, it said.

The State Health Department said counselling would take place for rest 43 seats on July 18.
