BHUBANESWAR: Police commissionerate for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has asked all band and music parties to install sound limiters connected to amplifiers with prefixed output of 65 dB sound.
As per the new instructions, all band and music parties operating from within the police commissionerate jurisdiction after fixing sound limiters to their amplifiers would register their names with the respective deputy commissioner of police, who would maintain register of such band parties in their licensing section, a statement issued by police commissionerate said here on Saturday.
While issuing licence, it should be certified that the output sound has been measured through a sound level meter not less than 15 days ago by inspector-in-charge of the respective police station under whose jurisdiction the band and music party has its office, it said.
“The 65 dB output of sound should be maintained by the band and music parties through out the procession and inspector of in-charge of police stations in whose jurisdiction such parties would pass or perform would measure the intensity by sound level meters at random interval,” commissionerate of police informed.
It decided to impose fine of Rs. 500 in the event of violation. The order was issued close on the heels of Home department requesting immediate steps to ensure action in the matter.
