The three-day BMC-ITC Sangeet Sammelan (music festival) being hosted here by the Bhubaneswar Music Circle (BMC) in association with the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata concluded at Rabindra Mandap on Friday with a captivating concert by legendary Hindustani vocalist Girija Devi.

The festival, which also coincides with the golden jubilee celebration year of the BMC, had a magical flute concert by legendary Hariprasad Chaurasia during the inaugural evening.

The maestro, who had commenced his career as a flutist at the All India Radio, Cuttack and who has set up his Vrindaban Gurukul in the Capital city here, performed along with five of his young disciples from the Gurukul and kept the audience hooked to their chairs for nearly two hours who were asking for even more.

Earlier during the evening, poet and Hindustani vocalist Laksmisree Banerjee – who was sponsored by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations - had a very dull and disappointing performance of her thematic concert “Love and God” in which she sang and recited her poems.
