CUTTACK: After more than one month of sensational Nuabazar double-murder case, the police are yet to nab the perpetrators of the gruesome crime that took place in broad daylight at a busy marketplace here on December 11.

However, Police Commissioner B K Sharma arrived here on Wednesday to address the local reporters claiming that they had identified all the criminals and ascertained the motive behind the murders.

While it was widely reported in the media just immediately after the incident that the cold-blooded murders were the outcome of tender fixing, the Police Commissioner confirmed it on Wednesday saying:

“The criminals had hatched a conspiracy to create a sensation and prove their hegemony over the tender world”.

The Police Commissioner said the modus operandi of the gruesome murder was enacted by two groups of a gang—one committing the crime at the spot and another group supplying arms and ammunition.

In the meantime the police arrested at least three persons in this connection, including one apprehended after an encounter, the key accused are still at large and police are still clueless about them.

Bullets seized

“Our investigations are on and there could be some more arrests in this connection”, the police commissioner said adding that the police seized over 800 live bullets, seven mousers, one revolver and a luxury car from the hideout of one of the arrested persons.
