Patna: A jawan of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was shot dead prompting villagers to lynch the assailant’s father in retaliation at Tenua in Bihar’s Saran district on Sunday evening.

Additional Director General of Police (headquarters) U. S. Dutt said SSB jawan Ajai Rai, who was visiting his native place on leave, got embroiled in a dispute with one Uma Rai at a tea stall.

When Uma’s son Murari came to know about the incident, he reached the site and fired at the jawan killing him on the spot.

Unable to catch Murari, infuriated villagers then thrashed Uma Rai to death, Dutt said.
