Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was visibly annoyed on her arrival at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport here on Wednesday after a two-day tour of the earthquake-affected areas in north Bengal and Sikkim as her aircraft was airborne for nearly 40 minutes owing to a priority landing granted to another aircraft.
Ms Banerjee even told journalists on her arrival that the delay caused was “deliberate”.
The aircraft which was carrying the Chief Minister from Bagdogra was kept airborne as the air traffic control had given permission to a Kingfisher aircraft on a Bagdogra-Guwahati flight to land after it could not do so in Guwahati because of bad weather.
This followed a request from the pilot of the aircraft.
Airport sources said that the Kingfisher aircraft was also running out of fuel.
