PUDUCHERRY: Indian Bank, Villianur branch, gave away loans to eight student self-help groups (SHG) on Saturday. Chief Manager of Indian Bank, Villianur branch, R. Sakthivel said that Green Society, a non-governmental organisation, had formed student SHGs to inculcate the habit of savings among students. The SHGs consisted of students in the 10-15 age group studying in Classes V to X. Each group had nearly 15 to 20 members.
“We gave away the loans for education purposes to student SHGs. Each student received Rs. 5,000 as loan,” he said.
