The West Bengal government is mulling bringing a legislation to stop enforcement of strikes on industrial workers who do not want to be part of it.

Stating this West Bengal Labour Minister Purnendu Bose told reporters at the State Secretariat that the State had no plans to ban strikes, rallies and processions but “we want prior intimation on this and strikes should not be forced on anyone.”

In this context he said that the government may bring a legislation if need be to stop forceful strikes. He said that barring jute and tea industry, minimum wages would soon be announced for 55 other industry groups.
