At least ten people, including four women, were injured when a retired BSF jawan opened fire following a land dispute at Baratunga village of Orissa's Kendrapara district, about 25 km from here, according to the police.
“It was an act of provocation by the retired jawan, Madan Mohan Behera. The shooting led to a group clash. No causality was reported,” Kendrapara Superintendent of Police Narasingha Bhol said.
The firing followed an exchange of words between two groups over a land dispute. All the injured persons, who were shifted to district headquarters hospital, are said to be out of danger. Behera is absconding. -PTI
