Mata Amritanandamayi asks people to be free from three L’s – Lust, Love of Drugs, Love of Money

Expressing the need for school students to learn the importance of community service, Mata Amritanandamayi said if all schools take their students for cleanliness drives and tree plantation sessions for at least two periods a week, pollution will be alleviated to a great extent.

The students should be given marks for these sessions, which will help develop a service oriented mentality in our children at a young age, she said during her visit to Puducherry on Monday. Further, the government should provide grants to fund one child from every household to devote his or her time to serve in rural areas upon graduation. Young people should live among the poor and understand their problems, only then will the country be able to find solutions to help them. The move will awaken compassion in our youth, and uplift the poor. Even retirees should be encouraged to do so.

Speaking of the Delhi rape incident, she said, today’s society is devoid of values and the youth are spending much of their free time searching the Internet for pornography.
