Seeks approval for creating more posts in police force
PUDUCHERRY: Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh has appealed to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to immediately approve of territorial administration’s proposal to create additional posts in the police force.
A release issued by S. Sreenivasan, private secretary to Lieutenant Governor, said Mr. Singh called on Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and discussed issues pertaining to the Union Territory. Mr. Singh said creation of more posts was necessary to strengthen the functioning of police force and improve law and order situation in the Union Territory, the release said.
Mr. Singh also met Union Minister for Urban Development S. Jaipal Reddy and discussed urban development programmes initiated by the government in Puducherry.
Mr. Reddy promised adequate funds for carrying out the development programmes, the release said.
