Scientists suggest to change route to the temple
Crack developed on the rock over which it is built
Dehradun: Scientists from the IIT have suggested the administration here to temporarily change the route to the holy Purnagiri temple in Champawat district following a crack in the rock on which the temple is built.
A team of scientists from IIT Roorkee and engineers of PWD are stationed at Tanakpur to study the geological formations of the area as well as the crack in the rock on which the temple structure has been built. Official sources here said Chief Secretary Indu Kumar Pande has asked the administration to take appropriate steps.
Govt. orders survey
The Uttarakhand Government has ordered a survey of the temple after which the team would prepare a report and submit to the government for further course of action. Meanwhile, scientists have suggested to create alternate routes to the temple premises during the coming festival season.
The temple which is famous for deity ‘Maa Purnagiri’ attracts lakhs of pilgrims from various parts of the country. –PTI
