CUTTACK: Four students from Orissa have qualified to receive University Gold Medal from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for their outstanding performances in the university examinations held at national level. The students would receive their medals from the Chief Justice of India (CJI) K.G. Balakrishnan at the 18th convocation of the university in New Delhi on March 18, said the IGNOU regional director of Orissa S.S. Jena.

The gold medallists from Orissa include Jhansi Singh for securing first position in post graduate diploma in distance education (PGDDE), Ansuman Mohanty and P.K. Nandi for post graduate diploma in journalism and mass communication and Sathya Murthy for post graduate diploma in geriatric medicine. All these students have been intimated to receive their medals at the main convocation function at New Delhi, Jena said.

The New Delhi function would be telecast live at the IGNOU's 28 regional centres through Gyan Darshan channel. The Bhubaneswar regional centre would hold its convocation on the same day at the auditorium of Institute of Physics. Utkal University vice chancellor L.N. Misra would be the chief guest at Bhubaneswar function .
