DEHRA DUN: The Uttaranchal Assembly was adjourned sine die amid uproarious scenes on Thursday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party and Bahujan Samaj Party members rushed into the well of the House the moment the Speaker arrived and raised slogans seeking a CBI probe into Jatropha plantations that they alleged was a scam bigger than the fodder scam of Bihar and an explanation on a Minister's allegations in the matter.

The former Speaker and BJP member, Prakash Pant, wanted a discussion over the issue and the complaint made by a Cabinet Minister to the Chief Minister, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, alleging a mass scale fraud in the Jatropha plantations.

The Government claims to have spent Rs.1.88 crores on planting Jatropha across 10,000 hectares and spent another Rs 1.60 crores on putting fertilizers in these plantations over the past two years.

"Jatropha does not require fertilizer and grows well like any weed and the purchase and utilisation of fertilizer in such a huge quantity hints at a high level scam which only the CBI can unravel," Mr Prakash Pant pointed out. As the din continued even after two adjournments, the House was adjourned sine die.
