SHIMLA: Farmers of Himachal Pradesh staged a big protest outside the head office of the Chief Wild Life Warden of the State Forest Department here on Monday.

The protest rally was described as a wake-up call to the Government for ending the menace of wild animals attacking the farmers' precious crops.

Hundreds of farmers from the districts of Mandi, Solan, Sirmaur, Bilaspur and villages near the State capital gathered at the local Panchayat Bhavan in the morning and marched shouting slogans to Talland, the State Forest Department headquarters. The rally was organised by the mass NGO, Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti.

Memorandums were later sent to the Prime Minister and the State Chief Minister through the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and the Chief Wild Life Warden who were forced by the people to come out of their offices and assure the farmers of some action.
