The State Crime Branch police with the Commissionerate of Police of Cuttack city on Thursday arrested and forwarded to court one person from here for allegedly morphing an obscene photograph of a girl with that of a State Minister and circulating the same after uploading it on the Internet.

According to the Crime Branch police press release, the State School and Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda in February this year had lodged a complaint with the cyber police of the Crime Branch alleging that a morphed obscene photograph with his image was uploaded on the Internet for circulation.

Gathering prima facie evidence after conducting investigation, the police arrested Sidhharth Shankar Pati of Jeypore in Koraput district from CTO compound here at Mangalabag for having committed the crime. Sidhhartha, who was staying with his elder brother here, was booked under several sections of IPC and IT (amendment) Act.

Sources said Sidhharth was produced before the SDJM court in Bhubaneswar on Thursday and was remanded in judicial custody.

Sources further said that Sidhhartha, an ITI student morphed the obscene photograph of the girl with that of the minister and circulated it in public domain with an intention to teach a lesson to the girl who had allegedly ditched him. Further investigation into the case is on, said the crime branch press release.
