BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to integrate hospitality service providers engaged in the unorganised sector into the fast- expanding tourism industry, the Bhubaneswar wing of Indiatourism under the Ministry of Tourism has mooted a series of State-wide capacity building programmes.

Indiatourism Assistant Director G.C. Bhuyan told The Hindu that the series of training programmes would kick off on Saturday at Cuttack followed by Paradip, Chandipur, Gopalpur-on-sea, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Angul.

Honing skills

Some 100 participants from different budgeted hotels and travel agencies of Cuttack district engaged in front office management would be trained during the day-long programme to upgrade their skills, Mr. Bhuyan said. Though the organised sector comprising star hotels had trained human resources to deal with tourists decently, those in the unorganised sector like cooks, servers, waiters and helpers in ‘dhabas’, etc. hardly get any professional training, he said.

For participation in the training that is free of any fees, Indiatourism’s Bhubaneswar office can be contacted over telephone number 2432203.
