PUDUCHERRY: French Forces Joint Commander in the Indian Ocean Rear Admiral Bruno Nielly is on a two-day visit to Puducherry. The Admiral will make a courtesy call on Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh at Raj Nivas on Sunday.

According to sources, children of Santhosa Nanban, a non-governmental organisation, were taken on board French Naval Ship BCR Somme, berthed around six nautical miles from the Puducherry coast. They were taken from the Puducherry port on fishing vessels to the ship. The sailors on board took the children around the ship and explained its features to them.

Earlier in the day, around 20 members of the naval staff visited the NGO. The sailors painted the premises and carried out maintenance work. The ship is on a two-day visit to Puducherry, a release from the French Consulate here said.
