JAIPUR: The foundation stone for a soil-testing laboratory was laid at Kekri in Ajmer over the weekend. The laboratory, to be constructed at a cost of Rs.1 crore, will enable farmers to select appropriate crops for their fields and get profitable crop yields.

Union Minister of State for Telecommunication Sachin Pilot and State Agriculture Minister Harjiram Burdak were present on the occasion. An exhibition on farm equipment, use of fertilisers, soil testing, selection of crops and agricultural practices was also put up at the venue.

Mr. Pilot said both the Centre and the State would help the farmers face the current drought situation by extending timely assistance.
