CHANDIGARH: Senior Congress leader and former Haryana Labour Minister, Krishan Murti Hooda, on Saturday announced that he had resigned from the Congress.

Mr. Hooda made the announcement at a news conference in Rohtak. He later told this correspondent over the telephone that he would decide his future course of action within a month. Regarded as a loyalist of the former Haryana Chief Minister and President of the Haryana unit of the Congress, Bhajan Lal, Mr. Krishan Murti Hooda had earlier resigned from the positions he held in the party.

Mr. Krishan Murti Hooda, who also belongs to Kiloi, the home constituency of the Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said that he had resigned in protest against the Congress Government's "poor performance" and its "failure on all fronts especially law and order".
