SHIMLA: The Divisional Forest Officer of Nalagarh, R. L. Thakur, was killed in a jeep accident when he fell out of his vehicle near Salogara in Solan district on Monday. His official Gypsy vehicle was found just a few feet off the road and his body was retrieved from a 1000-foot-deep gorge.

According to the post-mortem report, traces of some serious burns injuries were found on the upper torso though trauma was the main cause of death. Mr. Thakur had been called to the State capital in the evening for some official work. He had reported in Shimla along with his driver but according to the police he was driving back all alone to Solan at night when he met with the accident.

Mr. Thakur is survived by his wife and two sons. The family said that they received a call from him at 8-30 p.m. saying that he would stay back for the night in Shimla. According to family members on Tuesday, it is still a mystery why he had started driving back after midnight all alone. The Solan police have summoned forensic experts to investigate the matter.
