The 10th edition of BYOFF - Bring Your Own Film Festival – would be hosted at Puri from February 21 to 25.

The five-day unique event would screen about 110 films of different genres and durations from a number of countries across the globe, informed national award winner filmmaker Susant Mishra, BYOFF founder-member and one of the festival coordinators.

“BYOFF’s uniqueness lies in the approach of the organisers – there is no selection, no jury and no awards; anyone who has a film can show it here. There is no hierarchy, no bureaucracy; it would be just sun, sand, sea, cinema and more,” he stated.

The films will be screened in makeshift tents on the beach, said Mr. Mishra. About 400 delegates from across the world are expected to take part in the festival, he added. Being organised in collaboration with AFA – Artists for festivals for artists - and INSCREEN, the premier film society of the State, the festival would be held on the premises of Hotel Pink House and in Chakrathirtha Road.

“As usual, BYOFF-2013 would be more than just a film festival. One can sing, dance, showcase one’s paintings, sculptures and photographs, present enactments, discuss ideas, share thoughts and experiences”, the festival coordinator elaborated.

For screening of films, BYOFF provides a platform for the filmmakers to showcase their products for prospective buyers. Besides, space would be provided for artists to exhibit their works. They can send their requests to giving details of their works and the space they would need, the hosts informed.

BYOFF was started in 2004 when a bunch of filmmakers thought it would be great to get together somewhere on a beach, away from the bustles of the city and without the pomp and gaiety of a regular festival.
