JAIPUR: Call it “Gandhigiri” during the hard election times but half a dozen persons are sitting on a fast unto death outside the Jaipur Collectorate demanding a ticket to sitting Congress MP from Alwar, Karan Singh Yadav. His chances for a re-nomination are out of reckoning as the party has already announced the candidature of Jitendra Singh, a scion of the former Alwar royal family and AICC secretary attached to Rahul Gandhi from Alwar.

It is not known the act of six men, who have been fasting since March 23, is sponsored by Dr.Yadav himself or not though the diehard supporters of the former superintendent of the Sawai Man Singh Hospital here discount any prompting. “This is a Gandhian act. If Alwar is taken already we are pleading with the Congress leadership to field him from any other seat,” said Rajesh Agarwal, one of the protesters.

Dr.Yadav, once a very popular medical practitioner, is seemingly the only sitting MP of the Congress in Rajasthan to be denied a re-nomination.
