The Crime branch of State police has asked State Forest Department to consider deploying officials for setting up a wildlife crime cell being contemplated in view of increase in wildlife offences.

Recently both the State Forest Department and Crime branch of the State police had an elaborate discussion on mechanism to deal with wildlife crime.

Sources said the Forest Department has been urged to depute an assistant conservator of forests, two range officers and forest guards for the cell.

A coordinated effort will yield better results, said a senior Forest Department official
