JAIPUR: Rajasthan Tribal Area Development Minister Kanakmal Katara on Thursday called upon the elected representatives of the people to use “social audit” of public welfare schemes to extend their benefits to the target groups.
He said the social audit should be carried out with full responsibility and transparency.
Addressing a meeting on the implementation of rural development schemes at Vagad Gandhi Vatika in Dungarpur, Mr. Katara said social audit conducted with proper coordination between elected representatives and district officials would help identify the gaps in the execution of schemes and facilitate formulation of a strategy to benefit the rural populace.
The participants in the meeting reviewed the progress of schemes such as Adarsh Gram Yojana, mid-day meal scheme, fair price shops, rural drinking water supply, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, watershed development, Tribal Sub-Plan and health care at Primary Health Centres.
Dungarpur Collector Niraj K. Pawan, Zila Pramukh Tarachand Bhagora, MLAs Punjilal Parmar and Sushil Katara, Pradhans of panchayat samitis and Zila Parishad members attended the meeting.
