East Coast Railway Inspector General and Chief Security Commissioner Srikant K Mishra has been awarded the President's Police Medal for distinguished service. The medal was presented on the occasion of the Investiture parade held at New Delhi on October 28 by Minister of State for Railways E. Ahamed. According to a press release by E.Co. Railway Mr. Mishra had earlier been awarded the Indian Police Medal for meritorious service in 1999. He also received Director General Commendation and insignia in 2002 for outstanding contribution towards policing in the Railways. After he joined East Coast Railway, there was a significant improvement in the security scenario, it said. Crime against passengers had come down and the RPF personnel had made a number of smart detections by arresting pick-pocket, and suitcase lifters. There was also an improvement in punctuality of coaching trains due to arrest of chain pullers .
