Puducherry: President of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) here V. P. P. Velu said on Friday that volunteers and functionaries of different wings of the party will observe a fast in front of private medical colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal on Monday to urge private medical colleges to earmark 50 per cent of seats for the Government-sponsored students. In a release, Mr. Velu said that it was surprising that the Government was letting down students without initiating steps to direct the colleges to allocate 50 per cent of seats. Stating that the Government here had been adopting an “anti-student and pro-management” stand, Mr. Velu said the volunteers would observe a one-day fast from 10 a.m. in front of these colleges.
