Administration decided to continue distribution of relief materials throughout the night on Monday in six most Phailin cyclone affected blocks of Ganjam district as the rains have started to fall adding to the woes of cyclone devastated families.
Speaking to The Hindu , Ganjam district Collector Krishen Kumar said this relief operation would continue without stop till Tuesday to reach out to each and every family of these worst hit blocks which are also expected to face rains as per the meteorological forecasts.
The blocks where this relief operation has started are Chatrapur, Ganjam, Rangeilunda, Khallikote, Chikiti and Digapahandi.
Officials have been deputed in every panchayat of these blocks for management of this special relief operation.
The target is to reach out to every family of these blocks within the next 24 hours. Senior administrative officials have been deputed to keep a watch on this massive relief operation along with adequate police security.
The administration is expected to have relief coverage increased to around 75 per cent by the end of this special operation.
Apart from provision of 50 kg of rice and Rs. 500 to each family the target is to provide polythene sheets to all households living in kutcha houses and cyclone ravaged dwelling places, said the Collector.
The officials have been directed to keep strict vigil so that no one living undamaged house or pucca house gets the polythene sheets while the real needy are deprived of it.
