Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda has said the Congress is trying to get political mileage through President’s Rule in the State instead of using the phase to speed up development.
“Development work should be the top priority; instead, the Congress seems more focused on using President’s Rule for their political advantage in a State that is already affected by political instability. There should have been faster progress in development work, as during President’s Rule only Constitutional motivations are supposed to matter and not political motivations. But this is not the case,” the BJP leader said.
On February 16, former BJP MLA from Jamshedpur Sarju Rai alleged that a message was sent across the police wireless network seeking details of alleged criminal records of Mr. Munda, and BJP leaders had demanded a probe into the incident. “I raised the issue because such an action is unwarranted,” said Mr. Rai.
“The police later issued a clarification that this was an administrative requirement for everyone getting special security but I cannot ascertain the truth of their claim,” said Mr. Munda.
He reiterated the BJP’s demand for dissolution of the Assembly and holding fresh elections. “Only a government with a clear majority can deliver and end political uncertainty.”
