BERHAMPUR: The impasse over fixation of procurement price between the sugarcane growers and the Aska Cooperative Sugar Industries Limited (ACSIL) has ended.

The ACSIL authorities declared to hike the procurement price of sugarcane to Rs 1,700 per ton This decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Ganjam district Collector V.K.Pandian which was attended by the representatives of the ACSIL and the Ganjam District Sugarcane Growers Association (GDSGA). The president of the GDSGA, B.K.Panda, its vice president, Narayan Jena, secretary Samir Pradhan, Managing Director of ACSIL, Basant Kumar Behera and cane manager of the company, Prashant Kumar Padhi were present in the meeting.

Both ACSIL and cane growers agreed to start crushing operation on Jan 20. Earlier the GDSGA was demanding procurement price of Rs 2,000.
