A 14-year-old boy died and another was injured after they were beaten up by a mob, led by a deputy sarpanch, which accused them of theft at Thari village in Bihar’s Purnia district on Sunday, police said.
Accusing the two of stealing gutka (tobacco) and a phone recharge coupon worth Rs. 50 from a shop, villagers led by Thari panchayat deputy sarpanch Manoj Tiwari mercilessly beat up the boys after hanging them upside down from a tree.
Chotu Kumar (14) died, while Pintu Kumar sustained injuries, Superintendent of Police Ajit Kumar Satyarthi said. — PTI
