Royal descendants in Bolangir and Kalahandi appear to be average rich

Hemendra Singh, who has filed nomination from Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat on Biju Janata Dal ticket, appears to be the richest candidate among all, who have so far entered the fray in Odisha.

Mr. Singh, scion of the Nayagarh royal family, possesses moveable and immoveable assets worth Rs. 46.24 crore. Value of non-agricultural land, he has purchased or inherited in Odisha and Jharkhand, has made him a crorepati.

The BJD Lok Sabha candidate is holder of half share of his ancestral house at Doranda in Ranchi. The market value of the property has been estimated to be at Rs. 10 crore.

Going by affidavit submitted by him, Mr. Singh had purchased three acres of land at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar in 2012 at paying Rs. 4.5 crore. Now the value of the prime land has shot to Rs. 6.5 crore.

He has immovable properties in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi and Nayagarh. Ironically, he does not possess any agricultural land.

Mr. Singh seems to have special attraction for wrist watches. His Rolex watch is valued at Rs. 7 lakh and another of same brand costs Rs. 4 lakh.

The Nayagarh royal scion has fleet of four wheelers. His nine four wheelers include BMW XS 2009 valued Rs. 71 lakh and Toyota Frontrunner 2011 (Rs. 22.40 lakh). His affidavit shows he has a Harley Davidson Motor Bike valued at Rs. 16.67 lakh.

Compared to this Nayagarh Royal Scion, royal descendants in Bolangir and Kalahandi appear to be average rich. Anang Uday Singh Deo, who lives in Sailashree Palace, Bolangir and filed nomination from Bolangir Assembly constitutency, has moveable properties worth Rs. 1.82 crore while his immoveable properties have been valued at Rs. 2.61 crore. Kalikesh Singh Deo, son of A.U. Singh Deo, who is BJD’s candidate from Bolangir Parliamentary constituency has moveable and immoveable properties worth less than Rs. 10 crore. But he is richer than his father.

K. V. Singhdeo, who is BJP’s MLA candidate from Patnagarh in Bolangir district, has moveable properties worth Rs. 48.89 lakh and immoveable properties valued at Rs. 2 crore.
