The State Cabinet has approved a set of rules regulating recruitment and promotion of medical officers in Ayurvedic stream. “The recruitment and promotion of Ayurvedic Medical Officers will be regulated by the new Odisha Ayurvedic Medical Service Rules, 2013,” said Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik while briefing media after the Cabinet meeting here on Thursday.
Mr. Patnaik said the objective of approving such rule was to appoint efficient Ayurvedic Officer for providing better healthcare to the people. “The appointment will be made in a fairly competitive selection process.”
“In this cadre, Group-B will be the entry level. The posts in the Group-B include Ayurvedic Medical Officers, Drug Inspectors (Ayurveda), Scientific Officer and Specialist in Government Ayurveda Hospitals,” he said. The Chief Secretary further said there would be direct recruitment to these posts through Public Service Commission, Odisha.
“The recruitment process has been standardised with specific provisions for the selection,” he said.
Mr. Patnaik said Group A (junior branch) posts in this cadre includes District Ayurvedic Medical Officers, Deputy Superintendents of Government Ayurvedic Hospital. Group –A (Senior Branch) posts include Deputy Director (Ayurved), Directorate of Ayush.
Besides, the Cabinet also approved similar rules for Homeopathic Medical Services. In this cadre Group-B posts include District Homeopathy Medical Officer, Deputy Superintendent, Odisha Medical College of Homeopathy and Research. The Group-A (Junior Branch) includes the posts of Chief Medical Officer (Homeopathy), Office of The Directorate of Ayush, Group-A (Senior Branch) includes Deputy Director (Homeopathy), Office of The Directorate of Ayush.
