Condemning the Wednesday's police attack on a journalist of a daily in Bhubaneswar, members of Cuttack Press on Thursday submitted a memorandum to State police DGP Manmohan Praharaj demanding stern action against the erring police officers who are trying to gag the Press.

Mr. Praharaj, accepting the memorandum and sharing the concern of the Press, assured that he would enquire into the incident and take appropriate action against the guilty.

All the media men of the city wearing black badges marched towards the police headquarters here raising slogans and held discussions with the DGP apprising him of the highhandedness of the urban police, particularly the top brass who had been engaged in escalating the friction between Press and Police.

The journalists alleged that due to lack of proper police-press interface, the rifts between the two professionals were increasing day by day in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
