GURGAON: The Management Development Institute here organised a two-day national management convention over the weekend in which several aspects of economic resurgence were discussed.
The convention was part of “Delphique”, an annual MDI event.
Titled “Resurgence of industries in the backdrop of the global meltdown”, the convention included panels on climate change, entrepreneurship, analytics, communications, human resources, marketing research and strategy.
Speaking at the convention, The Energy and Resources Institute director R. K. Pachauri said corporate houses tend to think solely about financial debt while considering business sustainability and ignore “natural debt”. He made the point that there are abundant business opportunities in development of a sustainable infrastructure for environmental conservation.
Several issues were debated at the various panel discussions. While e-entrepreneurship was advocated as a way to build and speed up modern businesses by leveraging technology, the challenges faced by the HR fraternity in the post-recession area were discussed.
The impact of climate change in the context of scientific research, geo-politics, and philosophy was also highlighted. Strategies to gain competitive advantage in the current economic scenario were debated.
The communications panel analysed the impact of social cause marketing campaigns on brands while the analytics panel highlighted the manner in which the analytics industry was shaping up. The marketing research panel analysed the transformative effect that new age social media had on the younger consumers and how consumer marketers could capitalise on the same.
