The arrested persons produced in Khallikote court
Three country-made guns and other weapons seized
BERHAMPUR: An inter-state illegal gun manufacturing and trading unit was unearthed in Khallikote area of Ganjam district.
Three persons were arrested in connection with the gun making units. They were forwarded to Khallikote court on Friday. Court rejected their bail plea.
The operators of this unit were in contact with illegal gun traders and manufacturers of Bihar.
Two persons were arrested from Pathara village. They were Bishnu Tahal of Pathara village and Baban Moharana of Balipatpur village under Tangi police station. Further investigation led to the arrest of Sheik Abdul Ross of Balugaon. During the raid on Bishnu's house, police could seize three country guns, a country-made sten gun made to look like a modern weapon. They confessed that they were selling these guns at a minimum price of Rs. 5,000 per piece.
They were involved in both trading and manufacturing. For manufacturing of country guns they were getting their supply of parts from Bihar and the guns were being assembled here. They were also taking orders to procure automatic and semi-automatic weapons from Bihar. According to them they were involved in this activity for the past three years.
