BHUBANESWAR: The Bhubaneswar Book Fair Committee has announced its annual awards for literature and publishing which will be presented during the closing ceremony of the ongoing Bhubaneswar Book Fair on Saturday.

While eminent poet Sourindra Barik will be conferred the Sachi Routray Kabita Samman, noted short story writer Jagadish Mohanty will receive the Bijay Krushna Mohanty Galpa Samman for the year, according to a release.

The Pustakmela Sahitya Pursakar, considered as the most important award instituted by the committee, has gone to Arbind Dhal for his short story collection ‘Gori O Anyanya Galpa.’ It carries a cash award of Rs.15,000, a citation and a shawl.

Children’s writer Sarala Behera’s book ‘Gaon Baragachha Chhai’ is the winner as the best children’s book while professor Golak Behari Mishra’s book ‘Jianta Pruthibi’ will be awarded as the best book on science and technology. The best writer on law, instituted this year by the 26-year-old committee, will be presented to advocate Mahendra Kumar Das. Gyanajuga Prakashan has bagged the best publisher award for the year.

Best cover designer

The Rabi Patnaik Galpa Puraskar, instituted for short story writers below the age of 40, has gone to Debapriya Priyadarshi Chakra for his story ‘Dambaru’. Manas Jena has been declared the best book cover designer for the year. All the awards carry a cash award of Rs.5,000 each besides citations and shawls. Celebrated writer Achyutananda Pati will present the awards.
