CUTTACK: Sports organiser and former secretary of Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) Bibhuti Bhusan Das passed away at his residence here at Kalyan Nagar on Wednesday afternoon. He was 85 and is survived by wife and two sons.

Family sources said Das was ailing for the past several days and was admitted to a private hospital. The end, however, came following cardiac arrest. The cremation of the body would be done at Puri Swargadwara, sources said.

Heading the Mayurbhanj district athletic association, Das was elected secretary of OCA in 1976 and continued to remain in the same post for over 24 years when he was dethroned by present secretary Asirbad Behera in 2000.

Das was also elected one of the vice-presidents of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 1988 and remained in the post till 1992. He was also elected secretary of Orissa Olympic Association (OOA) in 1984.
