PONDICHERRY: A bomb threat to the court complex here proved to be a hoax. The proceedings in the court on Wednesday came to a halt for a couple of hours following the threat. Police said that at around 10 a.m, when the day's sitting had commenced the District Court received a threat over the phone saying that a bomb would explode in the court complex within two days.
Police, rushed to the spot and made a thorough search of the premises but found no explosive materials.
A Sniffer dog was also pressed into service.
Soon after the news spread, the advocates, clients and officials of the court came out of the complex on to the road. Normalcy returned by noon and the courts started functioning again.
The Additional Senior Superintendent of Police B. Srikanth said that the police had suggested to court officials to install caller IDs in all the phones in the court complex.
