JAIPUR: Senior Congress MLA Nathu Lal Ahari died at the Sawai Man Singh Hospital here on Sunday. Mr.Ahari (68), who represented the tribal constituency of Dungarpur, had been in the hospital for about two months. The death came after his falling into a coma.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil, Assembly Speaker Sumitra Singh, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Pradesh Congress Committee president B.D.Kalla and Congress Legislature Party leader Ramnarain Choudhary have expressed condolence over the demise of Mr.Ahari.

In a letter to Kali Devi, wife of Mr.Ahari, Ms.Gandhi termed the departed tribal leader a dedicated Congressman. "His commitment was life-long to the party and society," she said.

The last rites of Mr.Ahari were performed at his ancestral village, Raghunathpura, in Dungarpur district in South Rajasthan on Monday morning. The funeral was attended by Ms.Raje, her Cabinet colleagues Gulab Chand Kataria and Kanakmal Katara, Mr.Gehlot, the chairperson of the National Women's Commission, Girija Vyas, and many Congress leaders, including former Ministers, Gulab Singh Shaktawat, C.P.Joshi and Raghuveer Meena.
