Dehradun: A heavy squall threw life out of gear in Uttarakhand, and caused a fire to break out in Udhamsingh Nagar causing the death of three children and injuring a person.

Rajni Kaur (12), Kailash Kaur (8) and Rekha Kaur (5) were charred to death on Wednesday night when high velocity winds fanned a blaze which had broken out in Kachchi Khamaria village in Udhamsingh Nagar, sources in the Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre said here today.

Sources said nearly half-a-dozen huts were gutted and several heads of cattle perished in the fire.

In Pithoragarh, the building of district Ayurvedic hospital was damaged when a tree fell on it.
