GREATER NOIDA: Rabindranath Tagore’s 148th birth anniversary was celebrated by the Bengali residents of Greater Noida over the weekend with great fervour.

An evening of music, dance and songs was organised in Sector Alpha II. Children from different age groups danced to Rabindra Sangeet. A play by Tagore was also staged by children under the guidance of Dipanjana Chakraborty amid chanting of Vedic hymns.

The significance of the 25th day of Baisakh (Tagore’s birthday according to the Bengali calendar) was reinforced in the listeners’ minds when Alakananda Pal sang Tagore’s lines, “He nutan dekha dik baar baar…..”

The programme was inaugurated by BIMTECH director H. Chaturvedi and Aditya Ghildiyal, HR head of New Holland Tractors and vice-president of the Association of Greater Noida Industries.
