BERHAMPUR: Three major burglaries occurred in the city on Wednesday night.
Two mobile shops in the heart of the city and a household at Lanjipalli area became victim of the burglars. A mobile and computer accessory retail shop in Mayuri Tower shopping complex incurred major loss. The burglars used the vent of the Air Conditioner on the backside of the shop to enter it. According to Maniklal Patro, the owner of the shop, the miscreants escaped with mobile phones and computer accessories worth around Rs.13 lakh . According to him on Wednesday itself he had procured new mobile phones worth more than Rs. 4 lakh .
Apart from the electronic gadgets the burglars also took away the cash in the locker of the shop. As per the Mr. Patro, the miscreants took away cash worth around Rs. 2, 60,000 . According to him the cash transacted during the last four days had not been deposited in bank and it was still in the locker of the shop.
Another comparatively small mobile shop at ‘One Way Traffic road’ also had a similar burglary. Here the intruders entered the shop burrowing through its back wall. They took away Rs. 15,000 worth of mobile recharge vouchers, four mobile phones and Rs.5,000 in cash.
A police team from Town Police station led by its inspector in charge, H. K. Pradhan reached the spot to investigate. Sniffer dogs and scientific team were also used to get vital clues about the miscreants involved in these burglaries.
In the other incident burglars entered into the house of a family at Kshab Nagar of Lanjipalli area of the city at night. They escaped with gold ornaments of around six tolas in weight and some other valuables.
