PUDUCHERRY: Several activists belonging to the Puducherry unit of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Monday courted arrest by staging a protest near the Bharatiya Janata Party office in the town to condemn the reported “fatwa” issued against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi by Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ram Vilas Vedanti.

The activists, including convenor of Puducherry unit of the DMK R. V Janakiraman and five party legislators, courted arrest after staging the protest. All of them were released later, police said. — Staff Reporter
