Puducherry: Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Bank M.S. Sundara Rajan has said that students applying for educational loans will not face any difficulty, as the bank accords higher priority to education among other socially significant projects.
Launching the bank’s first ever “Ind Online Doorstep Banking” facility for the first time in the country at its branch at Ariyoor in Oussudu here on Tuesday, Mr. Sundara Rajan said that the “Ind Online Doorstep Banking” facility was aimed at delivering banking services at the doorsteps of the common man. Through this arrangement, the bank was taking technology banking to villages for their digital empowerment. The project envisaged creation of Internet kiosks for limited banking operations, and it could be used in any remote location or branch or satellite offices with broadband connectivity. Customers would be issued identity cards with their photos and signature to utilise the kiosks. He handed an identity card to a customer to mark launch of the product.
Pattali Makkal Katchi MP M. Ramadoss Ramadoss inaugurated the new premises of the Indian Bank’s Ariyoor branch on Puducherry-Villupuram road. A. Elumalai, MLA, (Oussudu) also spoke. General Manager of Indian Bank Selvam Veeraraghavan (Head office) highlighted the features of the new facility. Deputy General Manager here M. Savarimuthu and Vice-President of Tata Consultancy Services, Chennai, K. Jayaramakrishnan were present.
