CHANDIGARH: Wheat procurement is going on in full swing in the grain markets of Haryana, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here on Friday. In fact, last year's procurement record of 22.3 lakh metric tonnes has already been surpassed with 22.65 lakh metric tonnes having been procured so far this season.

Mr. Chander Mohan also disclosed that six Government procurement agencies had purchased 90 per cent of the total wheat arrivals while traders had purchased 2.51 lakh metric tonnes. He said Kaithal district was leading with a total of 3.85 lakh metric tonnes followed by Karnal with 3.68 lakh metric tonnes, Sirsa 3.46 lakh metric tonnes, Fatehabad 3.42 lakh metric tonnes, Jind 3.24 lakh metric tonnes, Kurukshetra 2.40 lakh metric tonnes, Panipat 1.28 lakh metric tonnes, Ambala 75,546 metric tonnes, Sonipat 68,322 metric tonnes and Yamunanagar 49,878 metric tonnes.
