CUTTACK: The State crime branch police, investigating into the Kandhamal nun rape case, would soon move the Baliguda SDJM court for necessary orders to conduct the test identification parade (TIP) of the arrested persons in Cuttack. The High court on Friday had ordered for the TIP to be held in Cuttack and accordingly had asked the investigating agency to make an application before the lower court for the purpose.

“We would take appropriate steps to conduct the TIP immediately as soon as we get the certified copy of the HC judgment”, said the crime branch SP K. C. Swain on Saturday. Swain is supervising the case which was taken over by the crime branch police in October this year.

A total of 10 persons are now arrested by the crime branch police in the alleged nun rape case, including three persons apprehended from Kerala in October.

The nun was allegedly raped in K Nuagaon of Kandhamal district on August 25 during the communal riots which unleashed after the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and four of his disciples. The nun, who claims to be currently undergoing treatment in New Delhi, was initially reluctant to cooperate with State police and had demanded for a CBI probe into the case.

Following a plea for the same being turned down by Supreme Court, the nun began cooperating with the State police.
