BHUBANESWAR: State Election Commission on Wednesday announced a detailed programme for finalisation of voters’ lists for Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).
Following the High Court order on ward restructuring and reservation of seats, the voters’ list that was applicable for Assembly elections would be distributed ward wise for CMC.
The process would continue from October 16 to 28.
According to State Election Commission statement released here, a preliminary voters’ list of CMC would be published on October 29 and subsequently the list would be open for scrutiny till November 5 on every official working day.
Those who would have attained 18 years by January 1, 2009 could submit their applications for inclusion of their names in the voters’ list. Between November 11 and 15, demands and complaints would be accepted and accordingly rectification would be made on November 24.
The final voters’ list would be published from December 4 to 6.
The list would be displayed in all wards and office of additional district magistrate of Cuttack and CMC. Moreover, the list of booths and polling stations would also be published during this time.
During the recent urban polls, elections could not be held in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and CMC following the controversy pertaining to ward reorganisation.
At present voters’ list of BMC is also being finalised.
