BERHAMPUR: Murder of a lawyer, Shankar Prasad Mishra at Polasara has become an instrument for mud slinging between the Congress and the BJD in Ganjam district.

Mishra was a Congress activist who was shot dead by a group of miscreants on July 5 . Immediately after his murder former State minister who has left the BJD to join the Congress alleged that the BJD MLA of Kodala, Niranjan Pradhan was behind the murder. He alleged that in the recent past Mr. Pradhan had threatened Mishra. The allegation had political colours as in the last Assembly polls Mr. Pradhan had defeated Mr. Patnaik, who had changed his party to contest as a Congress candidate.

Without sitting silent Mr. Pradhan also came up with a series of so called ‘evidences’ to claim that it was Mr. Patnaik who instigated the murder of the lawyer. Before his death Mishra had named two professional criminals Bideshi Pradhan and Tulu Moharana as the persons who had shot him.

According to him these two criminals were now in the Congress camp and also served as bodyguards of Mr. Patnaik.
